TOKYO — Seven people died and 11 others were injured after a man hit pedestrians with a truck and then went on a stabbing rampage Sunday on a street in Tokyo’s busy Akihabara district, a popular electronics area and a magnet for comic and animation fans.
Police arrested the man, 25-year-old Tomohiro Kato from Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture, and seized a survival knife he was carrying. He admitted to stabbing all the people with the knife from around 12:30 p.m., police said. The truck was rented in Shizuoka Prefecture.

‘‘I came to Akihabara to kill people,’’ investigative sources quoted Kato as telling police. ‘‘I am tired of the world. Anyone was OK. I came alone.’’
According to police and hospital officials, six of the seven who died were males and aged 19, 20, 29, 33, 47 and 74. The other was a 21-year-old female.
The 11 people who were injured in the rampage and taken to hospital were nine men and two women, including a traffic police officer who was patrolling at the time.
Shunichi Jingu, a 26-year-old self-employed man from Gunma Prefecture, who witnessed the incident, said, ‘‘It seemed that a traffic accident had happened. Then a man got out of a vehicle and brandished a knife.’’
How horrible crimes are rising on Akiba, this is a gruesome murder. I pity those who were killed.

What a sad story…
what more can one expect from a pressure cooker society like japan, where social skills are lacking and the otaku (geek) is glorified as some kind of trendy fashion. people have no outlet for human discourse in japan. i bet this guy had anger toward his typical antagonistic japanese family. this is the norm in japan and it manifests itself in various forms. some kill thier parents, some push random people in front of oncoming trains, but fortunately most kill themselves.
japan is without question the most beautiful country ive lived in and the only country which meets my sensitive aesthetic requirements, but man, sociogenic psychological disorders are rampant. and to make matter worse, psychiatric care in japan is primitive.
