Fall 2008 Animé

Here’s a picture of some anime that will be airing this fall, I think there are more sequels this coming Fall season. Have you already picked yours to watch? Click to see my watch list this coming season.

First to start of, Clannad: After Story

I’m aiming for genre that are on adaptations, also I my top prior for my watch list is the Visual Novel adaptation sequel by Kyoto Animation, Clannad: After Story.

Clannad is set in a high-school located in a Japanese town. Tomoya Okazaki is a third-year student who doesn’t take his studies seriously. Always late for class, he’s seen as a delinquent by the rest of his classmates who are busy preparing for their entrance examinations. Needless to say, he doesn’t have too many close friends either. Tomoya seems not to mind too–until he meets a few other girls from his school. Though he doesn’t care much about them at first, he soon opens his heart to them as they get to know each other better. Clannad is a romantic youth drama that’s likely to be more down-to-earth than Key’s other works. But like Kanon and Air, Clannad’s story is expected to be another touching and heart-breaking weeper.

Today in Class 5-2 manga adaptation by Coharu Sakuraba, will be animated by Shinkuukan.

Story Plot: Ryota plays it cool around all of his classmates, especially when it comes to girls. But he’s always the one on the spot in a perverted situation. In some of these many random anecdotes about the lives of fifth graders you’ll find: peeping at collarbones, eating chalk, accidental skirt flipping, missing bloomers (you know, those girls’ gym shorts things), and many others. Who says grade school can’t have a high-school-type love story?

Game adaptation from PS2, Tales of the Abyss, I have to watch this ’cause I didn’t understand the game at all. Animated by Sunrise Animation.

Story Plot: Luke fon Fabre, the son of Duke Fabre of the Kimlasca Kingdom, is 17 years old. He is the Light of the Sacred Flame who is destined to bring prosperity to Kimlasca. But since being kidnapped seven years ago by the Malkuth empire, he has been kept confined to the Fabre family mansion. The shock of the kidnapping erased all of Luke’s memories prior to the event. But one fateful day, a mysterious woman breaks into the mansion and sets off a chain of events that will change the world forever…

ef – Tales of melodies, animated by Shaft, After watching the 1st season, I was impressed by this anime, I won’t miss this.

Chaos Head — I think this is like morbid, a visual novel, I want it on my watch list, animated by J. C. Staff.

Based on a Japanese visual novel developed by 5bp and Nitroplus, Chaos;Head is a delusional murder mystery story, with strong elements of gore, psychology and science fiction. The game uses a feature called a “delusional trigger”, which allows the player adjust the ‘realness’ or ‘surrealness’ of the perspective of the main character, which directly affects the storyline.

Story Plot: Shinjuku is stage to a series of Murders named as Newgene. Victims are young people who are murdured in a very brutal way. Takumi an internet addict, starts talking with a person nicknamed “Shougun” who has a huge take on the next Newgene murder, he gives gives Takumi an information that leads him straight to the case, an event that disturbs his life a Hikikomori.
The main character, Takumi is a troubled young man who struggles to distinguish reality from his delusions, while being pursued by the perpetrator of a series of bloody murders, (or so he thinks). His travels take him in and around Shibuya, Tokyo and his adventures bring him in contact with various scientific themes such as the concepts of matter, antimatter, and the Dirac sea.

The story has been serialized in the manga magazine Dengeki Daioh. A second manga adaptation (described as a side story) will appear in the Sept ‘08 issue of Comic Alive.

This is an awesome manga, Toradora on my future watch list as well, animated by J. C. Staff.

Story Plot: Toradora!’s story begins with the male protagonist Ryuuji Takasu who is frustrated at trying to look his best as he enters his second year of high school. Despite his gentle personality, he has a natural outer-appearance which makes him look like an intimidating delinquent so he is utterly hopeless about his chances of getting a girlfriend anytime soon, and does not have many close friends either. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryuuji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class as his best friend, Yūsaku Kitamura, and crush, Minori Kushieda. However, it is then that he unexpectedly knocks into “the school’s most dangerous animal of the highest risk level” — Taiga Aisaka — who just happens to also be in his class.

Also on my watch list, is Hyakko.

Based on a shounen manga by Haruaki Katou which is serialized online on, animated by Nippon Animation.

Hyakko is a manga whose main heroines were four girls when the story started. But as the story goes, many unique classmates show up. Those girls sometimes twist the heroine around their little finger or vise versa. In many situations, they all have noisy get-togethers with each other, and that is really fun.

Another manga adaptation is Shikabane Hime, a horror, action, shounen type of genre, animated by GAINAX

Story Plot: The story starts off with a bunch of high school students, taking the dare to go up to this abandoned building that has been half destroyed by a fire. It was rumoured to be haunted. Just a rumour, right? Not when real corpses start showing up, and they start feeling things grabbing them, and finally zombies going after them! Shikabane Hime is there to save the day. The immortal girl, “Shikabane Hime,” has the mission to “kill” 108 corpses. It’s a contract she has between herself and the Buddhist monk, Keisei. After 108 corpses, she will finally get her happiness and go to heaven.

Yozakura Quartet a manga adaptation based on a shounen manga by Yasuda Suzuhito serialized in Shounen Sirius animated by NOMAD.

Story Plot: Akina, Hime, Kotoha, and Ao are four members of the Hiizumi Seikatsu Soudan Jimusho (Hiizumi’s Everyday-life Consultation Office), which, in addition to helping kindergarteners deal with tough times, strives to preserve the peace of their little town, Sakurashin, by hunting down the troublemakers who dare threaten it. Hime is a superheroine. Ao can read minds. Kotoha can conjure up anything with the right word. And Akina…well, he’s just a regular guy, surrounded by three supergirls! Together, they protect the town of Sakurashin. But that’s not easy, as the town faces demon dogs and other supernatural threats!

Already watching~ Bonen no Xamdou (Xam’d: Lost Memories), from the makers of Eureka 7, animated by BONES.

Story Plot: Akiyuki, the main character of the animated series, lives on Sentan Island, a land that has preserved its status as a free and peaceful island in a world consumed by fighting between the Northern and Southern Governments. All of this changes when Akiyuki boards a bus along with a mysterious white-haired girl who transforms his arm with the lost memories and power of Xam’d.

As Xam’d, Akiyuki goes on a rampage and is saved when a foreign girl with red hair named “Nakiami” calms him down, taking him back to her postal vessel. Akiyuki now must gain control of his powers and use them against the Northern Government’s latest weapons, known as “Humanforms”. Travelling the world on a postal vessel, Akiyuki hopes to return home one day, but until then he befriends other passengers on the boat.
