PSP-3000 Sold 140k+ Units in just 4 days

PSP-3000 was released last October 16, 2008 and sold over 141, 270 of units sold for just a week, from October 16 – 19, 2008.

I’m just wondering if I’ll buy this PSP since it has less battery lifetime from 5hrs from the PSP Slim and Lite and shorten it to 3~4 hrs because it has its enhanced screen capabilities that eats up battery lifetime.

As you may have noticed from the picture, with the exception of the display the PSP-3000 looks for the most part exactly like the PSP-2000. The PSP-3000 is reported to have an LCD with five times the contrast ratio, double the gamut, and double the response time. In addition to the improved screen the device will also have a built-in microphone, with better quality than the previous add-on mic.

These numbers are not that impressive when compared to the PSP Slim’s initial sales numbers which were 250,702 for the first week with 130K of that from the first day alone. With relatively slow sales figures and seemingly disastrous performance issues, it looks like the PSP Brite is getting off to a very rough start.

    141,000 units definitely isn’t a rough start when it’s only a 3rd version of a three-year-old console. If it was a brand new design then Fony might be worried, but I’d think they’ll be quite satisfied with those figures.

    Less upgrades = not buying, no DAX = won’t buy it, period ^^;

    Maybe a search device feature for the PSP would help.

    Hmm… Seems like its almost time I get a PSP. Battery should be shorten without doubt unless the engineers are able to come up with a more efficient dry cell.

    The only problem on this PSP are for those who want games but unwilling to fork out the extra cash. I don’t know how true is this but there is word going round that this model cannot be “modded”.

    I remembered when I was some PSP forum, some people including me rant about battery on psp3000, and Sony came up for the psp that won’t be modded. Gaming franchise is at loss and they came up with this.
