“Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger” sequel is being planned for the future.
Koyama Rikiya, seiyuu for Mamoru Takamura which revealed in his’ blog a sequel is being planned.
Koyama wrote, “Of course, a sequel is also being planned!!”.
Story Plot:
Ippo Makunouchi continues his boxing career and his goal on knowing the meaning of being strong, and the desire on fighting his idol Ichiro Miyata once again. Along him are pro boxers Takamura, Aoki and Kimura that each one of them aspire to their own dreams.

I am just happy to see more episodes of Ippo. It is a masterpiece. I think the reason it didn’t do well in north american release was because of bad localization (bad title change,bad dubbing, marketing,etc) New challenger did miss the original score composer from the first seasons. Other than that, I still love the voice actors. Takamura voice actor was superb. The wait for the next season will be quite an anxious wait, but I will continue reading the latest manga chapters in the meantime. Hope that This awesome series continues being supported.
The OST for New Challenger was excellent, even without Tsuneo Imahori, alot of good orchestra pieces that bring together alot of up/down back/forth of the fights in the series. The next series after New Challenger will surely be a killer start if the 26th episode is anything to go on. Ippo getting pumped to try and fight Miyata… that’s going to be awesome.
Here’s to it continuing for 10 more seasons. …Really though i hope this series could last as long as naruto or bleach. It really is my favorite anime.

this is the greatest sport/caracter developping anime I love it, all the caracters are cool go kagomawa gym yeah all the way, I want to see all the manga comes to live anime, and I will follow it to the end 😀
ippo and miyata will not fight in near future coz miyata will cancel the fight and he will fight the son of the boxer to whom his father lost so its more important to him but i love the series and the manga is great but in anime its much better coz of the jokes of takamura and him pounding on aoki and kimura hahahhaha

Yup we are on the current chapter of Ippo manga. really awesome. But we’d better don’t give away the story for those who haven’t read it yet. 🙂 Yes Takamura is awesome and indestructible. I also Enjoyed Aoki’s New alter Ego as BROCOLI MAN!!!

I just wished they kept the original music from the previous seasons in new Challenger, but story is still faithful to the manga with the exception of a few funny cuts that were in the manga.

Indeed, it should be announced soon yet I haven’t heard a squeek. They should at least notify us if they cancelled the series, true? Ah well, time will tell I bet.

This is lame. I finished the New Challenger and am left waiting. Someone PLEASE let us know what is going on. If they canceled it, fine, the least they could do is tell somebody.
Why can’t they just tell us more information about the next season! I have watched Hajime no ippo four times or so.. and i cant keep on doing this, really! It’s the best Anime show and please I beg you Takamura voice actor, give us a answer…

I really can’t wait to see what the next sequel would look like, but can only imagine on how epic it shall be!
